We offer support services for migrating, modifying, further developing, and adopting new technologies for WordPress websites.
WordPress Consulting
We can help answer questions that arise when working with WordPress, suggest solutions, and implement changes to your website based on those recommendations.
WordPress has changed significantly over its lifetime, which is why many WordPress websites vary considerably in structure and functionality.
Website Management with Experience
One of the most common reasons clients turn to WordPress agencies for version management is accidentally broken websites. These situations often require technical expertise beyond content management — and that is where we can help.
If you would like to delegate content management to us, get in touch and we will work out the best solutions together.
For larger website changes, we can plan either a complete website renewal or a website upgrade, where a new visual look is built on top of the existing site while the underlying system remains the same.
Common Support and Development Needs
PHP Updates
On WordPress hosting platforms, the PHP version needs to be updated from time to time. PHP version upgrades can occasionally cause issues — in the worst case, the website may break in a way that is not easily recoverable.
In such situations, a new PHP version may affect how plugins behave or how data is stored in the database. Once new data has been written to the database, it may not be possible to fix it simply by reverting to the previous PHP version. This is why having an up-to-date backup is critically important before making any major changes.
Theme and Plugin Conflicts
Plugins and themes can sometimes cause conflicts or stop working correctly. One common reason is a PHP version mismatch relative to what the plugin or theme requires. Many plugins depend on a specific PHP version to function properly.
Another possible cause is code overlap with the theme or other plugins. These conflicts can lead to malfunctions that typically require technical expertise to resolve.
WordPress Core Updates
Keeping WordPress core up to date is important for maintaining the structural integrity and security of your website. WordPress has changed significantly over the past decade, and these changes can affect how a site is maintained and developed.
One significant change was the editor transition, when WordPress moved from the Classic Editor to the Gutenberg block editor. WordPress has been actively developed to be more user-friendly, but changes to the editor in particular can sometimes cause issues.
Editor Changes
WordPress’s transition to the block editor was introduced in WordPress 5.0 on 6 December 2018. This change meant that website administrators had to decide how to maintain or develop their WordPress site going forward.
Some administrators continued using the Classic Editor, which is why many sites still run the old WordPress editor today. Certain plugins may require a specific editor or have been built to work with only one of them. As a result, a plugin’s features may not appear at all in the other editor, and separate plugins may exist for each.
